The Fab Owners Association has announced the addition of its newest member, Jazz Semiconductor. Jazz is based in Newport Beach, California, USA, and works mainly in SiGe and BiCMOS technologies for wireless and analog applications. Jazz is the FOA's first pure-play foundry to join its membership.
'We are pleased to announce the addition of Jazz Semiconductor to our growing list of member companies,' said L T Guttadauro, FOA executive association director.
'The FOA is process- technology independent, focusing on identifying common manufacturing issues and practical solutions for manufactures of semiconductor and MEMS devices.' Scott Silcock, VP Operations for Jazz Semiconductor, said: 'Jazz Semiconductor is pleased to participate and contribute to the ongoing efforts of the FOA in creating a unified front in identifying and resolving complex manufacturing issues and future technology trends.' Rajeeva Lahri Ph.D, CTO and VP ww operations for Intersil, FOA founding member and managing association director said: 'The more companies we have joining, the more practical the discussion and solutions'.
'This is due to the many years of practical knowledge and understanding our senior manufacturing executives can bring to bear on any single issue'.
'It's like having a peer technology board on your side.' The Association's system of evaluation includes surveying the membership about the issues that are important to the members today.
'We are also contemplative of the future and want to prepare for where our industry will be in the future,' said Raymond T Ford, VP global operations, Fairchild Semiconductor and managing association director.
The semiconductor manufacturers represented in the Fab Owners Association (FOA) have combined annual revenues of $7.5B and control nearly 500,000 8in-equivalent silicon wafers manufactured in the world on a monthly basis.
The current announcing member companies are AMI Semiconductor, Cypress Semiconductor, Delphi Electronics, Fairchild Semiconductor, Intersil, Jazz Semiconductor, LSI Logic, Micrel Semiconductor, ON Semiconductor, and ZMD AG.
