Tool manages, analyses and reports on all types of optical test including optical loss, optical return loss, optical time-domain reflectometry, polarisation mode dispersion and chromatic dispersion

Exfo Electro-Optical Engineering has introduced FastReporter, a single software tool designed to significantly improve the post-processing, analysis and reporting efficiency of its customers. Exfo's FastReporter, which replaces ToolBox Office R/T Pro, is an advanced management, analysis and reporting tool for all types of optical tests including optical loss, optical return loss (ORL), optical time-domain reflectometry (OTDR), polarisation mode dispersion (PMD) and chromatic dispersion (CD).

As all test results are acquired using different instruments, FastReporter consolidates the field-acquired test data of a fibre and enables single-view offline analysis through a truly intuitive graphical user interface (GUI).

Key post-processing challenges include analysing hundreds of files at the same time, manually adding and deleting events in OTDR traces, integrating measurements from different instruments in a single report, customising reports to particular specifications, handling long and complex reporting tasks, and many more.

FastReporter meets all of these challenges head-on with a number of post-processing functionalities, such as live templating for OTDR testing, powerful batch processing, ultra-fast bidirectional batch analysis, as well as other highly flexible reporting features.

This latest software offering from Exfo is being shown at CeBIT from 15th to 21st March, 2007 in Hannover, Germany.

It will also be presented at OFC/NFOEC 2007 from 27th to 29th March, 2007 in Anaheim, CA.

'As the market and technology leader in the OTDR test instrument market, Exfo has always been very active in improving testing as well as reporting efficiency for its customers ', says Etienne Gagnon, Exfo's Vice-President of Product Management and Marketing.

'This latest post-processing and reporting software tool allows our customer to greatly save time, while handling post-processing activities and reporting tasks that can be very tedious and time-consuming'.
