Operating at a fixed internal switching frequency of 1.5MHz, the SP6669 can reach 95% efficiency while providing up to 600mA of output current capability.

Exar has a new synchronous inductive step-down convertor that can deliver up to 600mA with output voltages as low as 0.6V.

The device is ideally suited for portable devices with a USB interface including digital cameras, portable media players and wireless networking amont others.

"The SP6669 represents an evolutionary step for Exar by extending proven convertor technology to new USB specific-based designs", says Eric Pittana, Director of Marketing, Power Product Line.

"Based on a highly integrated design, the device is offered in a small form factor that can eliminate several discrete components giving system architects maxim flexibility for developing solutions for space constrained environments".

Operating at a fixed internal switching frequency of 1.5MHz, the SP6669 can reach 95% efficiency while providing up to 600mA of output current capability.

Its output voltage can be set as low as 0.6 or 1.5V and 1.8V for the fixed-output versions, which can be achieved from any input voltages from 2.5 to 5.5V.

This synchronous convertor offers tight 0.4%/V and 0.5% of line and load regulations.

Samples of the SP6669 are available now in a -40 to +85C temperature range.

In 1000-piece quantities in a SOT-23-5 package, the SP6669 is US $0.49.
