Digi's ConnectPort Display zero-client hub transforms traditional PC architectures by allowing the interactive experience to be placed anywhere there is a network connection.

Available from Entrix, Digi's ConnectPort Display zero-client hub transforms traditional PC architectures by allowing the interactive experience to be placed anywhere there is a network connection.

Devices such as joysticks and keyboards for gamers or touch panel controls for home automation systems can be placed anywhere on a local area network (LAN).

This freedom comes without needing a dedicated PC in the same location as the rest of the action.

Multiple applications and their interactive devices may even be consolidated onto a single network based PC.

This flexibility is ideal for many consumer applications as well as applications in other markets such as retail and banking.

Digi's technology is complemented by the versatile I/O capabilities of the AMD Au1200 processor, using its innovative hardware video decode and flexible peripheral device interfaces to serve network based peripherals connected to the ConnectPort Display.

"Zero client architecture is a fundamental paradigm shift in client/server computing", said Steve Popovich, Vice President and General Manager, Inside Out Networks, a Division of Digi International.

"We believe exciting opportunities exist in numerous markets including many consumer applications".

"Our relationship with AMD helps us extend those applications".

The ConnectPort Display is the industry's first zero-client remote networking solution that uses display, serial and USB over IPR technology allowing dedicated PCs and their peripherals to be placed anywhere there is a network with no changes to application software.

This translates into smaller deployment stations, centralised management and reduced IT support without application software conversion costs.

"Powered by the AMD Alchemy Au1200 processor, the innovative Digi International ConnectPort Display technology represents the cutting edge in display and peripheral connectivity", said Rob Oliver, Product Marketing Manager, AMD.

"For both consumer and commercial use, the low power, high-performance AMD Alchemy processor enables design leaders like Digi International to include inventive features that customers demand".

The ConnectPort Display features Digi's patented RealPort COM port redirection technology for serial over IP communications.

It also uses proven virtual network computing for display and USB over IP communications.
