Espial has announced Siemens SURPASS Home Entertainment has chosen Espial Escape as the defacto browser for the SURPASS HE End-to-End solution

Espial Escape and the Siemens SURPASS solution are both designed with modular architectures that allow carriers to customize their get-to-market strategy and enable both entertainment and communication services on TV. Espial is a leading provider of set-top box and mobile handset software, specializing in IPTV applications.

"Espial Escape portability enables set-top box manufacturers and telcos to easily build content in desktop environments using off the shelf tools," says Espial President, Jaison Dolvane.

"Add that to the ease with which the look and navigation can be customized to requirements and the result is a browser with unsurpassed versatility and functionality."

The SURPASS home entertainment solution gives broadband providers the flexibility to offer a wider array of services and content choices, including high-definition programming, over DSL lines and provides users with a unified, end-to-end means of communication across various devices and media in the home.

The SURPASS solution also supports advanced codecs such as MPEG-4 that help operators to maximize bandwidth capabilities.

"We were impressed with the ease with which Escape ported across the various IPTV offerings that SURPASS Home Entertainment develops," said Axel Scheuer, SURPASS Home Entertainment Solution Manager.

"We only deliver the best for our customer and Espial Escape is part of that IPTV solution."

Users can expect intuitive interfaces that make access to Video On Demand, Online Gaming, Web browsing, email and chat services quick and simple for every type of user.

Espial software enables IPTV set-top box manufacturers to deliver broadcast TV content with the capability of rolling out new applications that are responsive to market needs.

Easily integrated with any middleware or VOD supplier, Espial software can scale to meet the requirements of low-end to high-end set-top boxes.

The modular architecture of Espial Escape future-proofs the Siemens offering, ensuring that carriers can introduce new services or applications as the need arises.

The graphical user interface is easily customizable using traditional mark up languages and allows carriers to up-sell or cross-sell new services with simple coding changes.

Siemens set-top boxes equipped with Espial Escape can deliver the latest Internet content, including sites with Macromedia Flash visuals.
