Major new environmental legislation will force electronics companies to rethink the way they deal with waste - or face the consequences.

Two important pieces of legislation coming into effect - the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and Reduction of Use of Certain hazardous substances (RoHS) Directives - are set to have a significant impact on the way electronics companies operate.

A series of free seminars launching in London on 26th May will explain the impact of this new legislation and offer businesses practical guidance on how to comply.

Leading industry experts from Envirowise, the Environment Agency and the Department of Trade and Industry will provide a breakdown of these two directives and discuss the related issues in detail.

Envirowise Programme Director, Martin Gibson, says: 'Doing nothing is not an option - thousands of companies in the electronics sector will have to change their business practices for good'.

'By acting smart and attending one of these roadshows, businesses can stay ahead of the game and - in some cases - might even be able to identify cost-savings as a result of our free advice'.

High demand means the first seminar in London is now fully booked but further seminars are being held across the country on the following dates: 22nd June - De Vere University Arms, Cambridge; 29th June - Park Plaza Hotel, Nottingham; 7th September - Moat House Hotel, York; 28th September - Life Conference and Banqueting Centre, Newcastle; 18th October - The Lowry, Manchester; 22nd November - The Copthorne Hotel, Birmingham; 12th January 2006 - Hilton St Anne's Manor, Reading; 16th February 2006 - Thistle Hotel, Exeter; and 15th March 2006 - Hilton Metropole, Brighton.
