Embest has released a highly integrated single-board computer with PC104 form factor for applications such as industrial control, consumer electronics and medical equipment.

It employs TI's high-performance AM3517 microcontroller, which is based on 500MHz ARM Cortex-A8 Core with Neon SIMD Coprocessor and PowerVR SGX graphics accelerator, offering video, image and graphics processing capable of supporting single-board computers, home and industrial automation and digital signage.

The SOC8200 board has on-board 256MB DDR2 SDRAM, 256MB NAND flash and 4MB Nor Flash and extends various functions through pins, including serial port, Ethernet, CAN, RS485, SD/MMC card, CF card, audio in/out, camera, LCD, USB host, USB device, expansion connector and JTAG.

Embest has designed an expansion board for the SOC8200, along with some accessories, software package and documents.

It is said to be ideal for customers to evaluate the functionality of Texas Instruments' Sitara AM3517 microprocessor.

The SOC8200 board is preloaded with Linux 2.6.32 open-source operation system.

Embest provides all drivers in source code together with a user manual and other tools and documents to help customer immediately begin their code development.

Embest also designed function modules for SOC8200 to support 3G, Wi-Fi, analogue camera and multi serial port functions.

The board can work stably in the temperature range of -40C to 85C, which enables it to fit specific industrial needs.

It can be used in various applications such as industrial control, consumer electronics, medical equipment, instrumentation, security monitoring and so on.
