Elma process enables printing onto base material
Elma Electronic has enhanced its front-panel customisation with the introduction of a six-colour printing process, enabling high-definition printing directly onto the base material of front panels.
The process gives industrial designers the freedom to use gradients, tints and other complex shadings in a manner akin to normal printing on paper.
As well as providing the control functionality required to operate the equipment, the HMI sets the style and appearance of the complete product, increasing options for enhancing corporate and product identity.
The process offers a resolution up to 5760 x 1440dpi over an area of 300 x 500mm.
The six-colour inkjet process, CMYK plus separate red and blue, can be printed directly on to steel, aluminium and other metals, and offers high adhesion and good resistance to solvents and cleaners without having to use protective coatings over the printing.
The process can be driven from a number of industry-standard formats such as AutoCAD, EPS files or PDFs.
Lead times and front-end costs are reduced, cycle time is lowered because each colour is printed simultaneously and the definition of the printed images is sharp and precise.
