New from Elcon Products International is Minipak, a low profile, high density power connector that delivers unprecedented levels of current for a connector of its size. Designed for use in hot-swappable power supplies up to 800W, Minipak lowers system costs by achieving output levels that would normally require two connectors. The compact footprint of Minipak makes it ideal for use in high output power supplies for EuroRack packaging designs such as VME and CompactPCI.
Only 94 mm long, Minipak provides three AC input power contacts each rated at 35A, 24 signal contacts at 2A each and a total DC output of 360A at multiple voltage levels.
Minipak uses truly compliant, eye of the needle press-fit tails on the socket side, providing an extremely reliable connection to the backplane PC board using solderless mounting techniques.
Three levels of sequencing are provided and non-standard sequencing and other customised options are also available.
Minipak allows designers to raise the current carrying capabilities of the power supply-to-backplane interface to levels that cannot be achieved using existing industry standard connectors of this size.
