Entegris is to realign its data storage manufacturing infrastructure around existing manufacturing centres of excellence and bring manufacturing closer to its customers in Southeast Asia. Entegris' data storage business is responsible for the manufacture of products that help disk manufacturers manage the risk of product loss during transportation to maximise profit opportunity. The company will move the manufacture of tray and process cassette products from Chaska, Minnesota, to Kulim, Malaysia.
No staff reductions are planned with this move.
"Major US electronics companies have forecast increased production and exports throughout the year, as well as continued long-term growth.
The transfer of selected data storage manufacturing efforts to our Kulim Center of Excellence brings us closer to these customers to better support their materials integrity needs", said Greg Morris, Entegris President of the Data Storage Market Segment.
"We are confident that this realignment will strengthen Entegris' operational efficiency and reinforce our position as a global materials integrity management leader".
The movement process is expected to be complete by 1st June 2004.
Entegris will transfer products, processes and equipment to Kulim for product lines including disk process carriers, read-write trays and HGA trays.
All products feature ISO9002 and ISO14001 certifications.
