Relay handbook forms basis for tutorial
A full-day tutorial at the International Relay and Switch Technology Conference will focus on the new 'Engineer's relay handbook'
A full-day tutorial at the International Relay and Switch Technology Conference (IRSTC 2006, 17th to 19th April, Costa Mesa, California) will focus on the new 'Engineer's relay handbook'. The sixth edition is the first major update in more than five years for the handbook, which has 100,000 copies in print.

New chapters addressing switch technologies have been added in conjunction with the expanded breadth of the Relay and Switch Industry Association (RSIA), formerly the National Association of Relay Manufacturers (NARM).
'The relay handbook has been a staple for engineers and designers in our industry for 20 years', says Werner Johler, Tyco Electronics/Axicom and Chair of IRSTC 2006.
'With the commonalities in relay and switch technologies, integrating these two product areas into one handbook will provide the industry with a one-stop resource for engineering and design'.
The revised handbook builds on the basics of relay technologies detailed in previous versions, while adding content covering new technologies such as MEMS relays and semiconductor basics with concomitant solid-state relays and switches.
It also includes an expanded glossary of the latest relay and switch terms from national and international sources.
'This is a major achievement for the new RSIA organisation', says Bob Willis, ECA President and interim RSIA Executive Director.
'Debuting the handbook at IRSTC 2006 with an in-depth tutorial by the authors presents a unique educational opportunity for engineers, technicians and designers in the relay and switch industries'.
