PCMCIA-to-Express Card adapter allows use of latest Express Card modems in old-generation PCMCIA slots.

Catering for the gap in the legacy market, Elan Digital has combined its specialist knowledge in customised Express Card designs with its proven VMB5000 bridge chip design to create the ECA16 PCMCIA-to-Express Card adapter.

This new adapter allows people to use the latest Express Card modems in their existing PCMCIA slot via the Elan ECA16, without having to spend out on a new PC.

The key difference between other adapters of this kind available today and the Elan ECA16, is that the ECA16 is based on 5V technology which means more than 20% more power is available for the modem card.

More power means faster data transfer and a more robust connection, especially when the network signal strength is less than optimum.

There is no doubt that the change from traditional PCMCIA slots to the new Express Card standard is gathering momentum rapidly in the PC marketplace.

Naturally, PC Card manufacturers and, in particular, wireless modem PC card manufacturers are responding by developing their latest technology using Express Card.

However, there are still many millions of older PCs out there, worldwide, and that is where the Elan Digital's ECA16 provides a powerful solution.
