Card reader brings wireless to USB ports
A new USB-to-PCMCIA card reader family is designed for broadband wireless cards.
Elan Digital has released a new USB-to-PCMCIA card reader family for broadband wireless cards, the U111 Series.
Novatel Merlin broadband wireless cards are the first to be supported by Elan's U111 Series, but other major makes of broadband cards are set to follow.
The Elan card reader allows Novatel Merlin broadband wireless modem customers to use their cards in desktop workstations or any other environment where a USB interface is available.
Commonly now, there are situations where new laptops do not offer PCMCIA slots, or when all the available slots are already in use, and the U111 is designed to overcome the problem simply and easily.
All the readers in the U111 Series are housed in a smart, compact, and rugged plastic casing and are supplied with the required software drivers to interface directly with existing applications software such as Connection Dashboard.
The U111 unit just launched by Elan is the first in the range planned to support all major 16bit PC Card and Compact Flash broadband wireless modem cards on the market.
