The upcoming demand for using lead free solder paste has alerted most people's attention to the necessity for higher soldering temperatures. However the change brings with it another challenge, and that is printing accuracy because of the poor wetting behaviour of lead free solder pastes. Flexibility and accuracy are key words for Dima when designing new products to fit the Dima product range.
Dima has expanded the Hybrid family of products with an extremely flexible and accurate semi-automatic stencil printer.
The hart of the machine is based on a rigid casting where the motor driven printing head is guided over the frame by linear bearings.
All parameters like printing speed, squeegee pressure, lift off speed, printing stroke and maintenance parameters can be programmed using the unique Dima-soft Windows based user interface, offering optimum settings for every individual PCB.

Teaching the correct position of the board to the software is performed using the self learn modus of the ESI vision system.
Once the system knows the correct position of the board it will alarm the operator when the board position is not within the preset tolerance.
At the same time the software will instruct the operator in which direction (x, y and rotation) the board has to be corrected.
The maximum tolerance level between the board and the stencil for the vision system to be accepted can be programmed between 1 and 100um.
As soon as the board is within the given tolerance a navigation cross window will change from red into white indicating that the printing process can be started.
At the same moment the start buttons become active.
The PC-controlled HS-100 is equipped with the following items; a 15in TFT monitor and two CCD cameras for a clear view of the process and accurate board alignment; a scaled PCB table for repeatable board placement when running a high mix of boards; a Mylar foil for test printing and board alignment; and magnetic locating pins, board supports and software controlled vacuum units for easy board placement.
Optional features include: a squeegee starter set (two holders and four blades), a puck pack adapter and under-stencil cleaning unit.
The HS-100 allows stencil frames up to 23 x 23in.
The maximum print area is 450 x 400mm, allowing boards with sizes from 40 x 40 up to 520 x 400mm.
The machine accuracy is +/-25um at three sigma, and the repeatability is +/-10um at three sigma, enabling printing for components with a pitch of 0.3mm.
