LCD panel comes to light
A new 15in LCD panel is designed for use in high ambient light and direct sunlight situations
The new Aaeon PD8500 has been developed to meet growing demand for sunlight readable LCD panels and features an enhanced brightness backlight that improves the display's brightness to 1000nits. In outdoor or high ambient lighting conditions, normal TFT displays experience washout and loss of contrast leading to an unreadable image.

The solution is to enhance display brightness as in the PD8500 to a level that is over five times that of typical LCD panels and eight times that of conventional CRT monitors.
The PD8500 features a large 15in diagonal XGA resolution (1024 x 768 pixel) LCD panel with an eight-level light sensor for automatic dimming control.
This allows the display to be adjusted in accordance with a wide range of external lighting conditions.
The panel also features OSD (on screen display) function for display adjustment and accepts a variety of video input sources from DVI to S-video.
A resistive touchscreen option is also available.
CE and FCC safety certified, the new PD8500 features an IP65 sealed aluminium front panel bezel while the rugged stainless-steel open-frame construction of the display makes it an ideal choice for a wide variety of outdoor applications and tough working environments.
These include ATMs, marine, aviation, kiosks, point of information, test and measurement instrumentation and petrol pumps.
