Qualcomm has licensed Dilithium Networks' 3G-324M video telephony and conferencing protocol software for its MSM6xxx family of chipsets

Under the agreement, Qualcomm will incorporate Dilithium Networks' H.324M/3G-324M multimedia protocol stack to develop embedded wireless video-telephony solutions for its UMTS customers. The H.324M protocol is an ITU-T standard which has been adopted by both 3GPP and 3GPP2 standards bodies enabling real-time streaming and conversational video services over wireless networks.

The agreement also includes licensing of Dilithium Networks' proprietary AnswerFast feature capability.

Dilithium Networks' AnswerFast feature in the H.324M/3G-324M stack reduces call setup time by up to 50% resulting in a major improvement over current conventional H.324M call setup methodology.

The Dilithium Networks' AnswerFast feature is also incorporated into its line of high-density carrier-class multimedia gateway solutions.

"Qualcomm's selection of Dilithium Networks' multimedia protocol stack is a strong validation of our expertise in the field of multimedia communications.

The wireless multimedia services market, and particularly real-time streaming and video telephony services market is expected to grow rapidly over the next three years as these services are key differentiators for 3G mobile operators", said Paul Zuber, Chief Executive Officer of Dilithium Networks.

"Dilithium Networks is uniquely positioned to offer a wide range of solutions to this market including multimedia gateways, protocol stacks and 3G-324M test tools".

Dilithium Networks' H.324M/3G-324M stack has been available to customers since early 2000.

The company has been an active participant of the International Multimedia Telecommunications Consortium's (IMTC) H.324M interoperability group since its origin over three years ago.
