The Komax bt722 is a new semi-automatic benchtop crimping press, launched in the UK at Nepcon 2004. Designed to offer the high quality and features available only from fully automatic equipment, the new bt722 provides an exceptional level of process control during changeover and production. This results in greatly reduced setup times, with timesavings of up to 60% cited by manufacturer, Komax.

It can also offer full product traceability, as production data can be logged via an Ethernet connection.

The bt722 features a new touch screen user interface and inbuilt intelligence.

This is combined with Komax's TopTouch software, which is used to control the system, and to ensure that setup is fast and simple to implement.

As a quality check, the bt722 requires that crimp height or pull off force be verified before starting a production run.

After the startup, adaptive learning facilities within the software monitor and record good crimps and these are added to the reference curves.

This helps ensure consistent quality throughout production.

Further integrated quality monitoring features include an in-built crimp force analyser that can detect and reject faulty crimps automatically.

The bt722 is also available with the new Digi-Stripper module to provide high quality, repeatable process with fast job changeover.

Combined, the entire system offers a cycle time of 0.8s for zero-cut, stripping with way-back and crimping.

This ensures that it is the fastest benchtop press available to offer this level of flexibility and functionality.

Other features include an intelligent drive system encompassing fully programmable crimp height, stroke, press speed and split cycle.

A linear measurement system measures precisely the movement of the press slide in real time.
