Sealant shields and resists corrosion
Material is ideal for use between aluminium surfaces on outdoor enclosures where environmental sealing, plus EMI shielding and resistance to galvanic corrosion are required
The new elastomers incorporate a high technology ferrous filled silicone polymer system that gives wide band absorption of up to 20dB between 30MHz and 12GHz for Cho-Mute 9020, and 25dB between 500MHz and 18Ghz for Cho-Mute 9000.
The material is extremely effective at absorbing both surface currents and free space electromagnetic fields.
Available in sheet form, die-cut or as moulded parts, Cho-Mute can be supplied in thicknesses ranging from 0.25 to 3.0mm.
Both grades have an operating temperature range of -50 to +160C and can be supplied with a pressure sensitive adhesive to aid assembly.
Pieces of equipment on which these new materials may find applications include wireless voice or datatelecommunications, infotainment equipment, PDAs, mobile phones test equipment and numerous pieces of portable military electronics.
