Low profile inductors for line-filtering purposes
Surface-mount inductors are suitable for use in low-power line-filtering applications in consumer, industrial and telecomms applications
The low-profile, bobbin-format, dual-winding devices have a 1:1 winding ratio and can be connected in either series or parallel to give a range of inductance combinations. Devices in the two new series are designed for use in power applications and are also suited to switched mode power supplies where the secondary coil can be used as a feedback winding.
Nominal inductance values for both the 4700 and 4800 series range from 1.0 to 400uH (at 10kHz and 100mV AC).
Devices in the 4700 series handle a maximum continuous current of 9.5A, whereas 4800 inductors have a higher rating of 12.3A.
An integral EMI shield is a standard feature of the new inductors, making them ideal for designs where minimising electrical noise is an important factor.

ADC modules suit low-noise acquisition
Dual sampling 14bit A/D convertor modules provide a 20Msample/s sampling rate and no missing codes over their full temperature range
In addition, power applications benefit from high levels of efficiency as a result of low maximum DC resistance values.
These range from 4.8 to 686mohm for the 4700 series and 4.9 to 503mohm for the 4800 series.
A wide operating temperature range of -40 to +85C broadens the number of applications in which the devices can be used.
Low profile design is of increasing importance for many pieces of equipment, as a high degree of functionality in a small space becomes a key design requirement.
With maximum heights of 5.0 and 6.2mm, respectively, the new 4700 and 4800 series inductors are ideal for such space-limited environments.
Available in a tape and reel format, the 4700 and 4800 series are fully compatible with high-volume automated manufacturing systems.
Pricing for the inductors in OEM quantities begins at US $0.40 for both the 4700 and 4800 series.
