Cambridge Silicon Radio guarantees that its second-generation single-chip Bluetooth solution, BlueCore2-External, will meet or exceed the Bluetooth specification between -40 and +85C.
Bluetooth SoCs take more onboard
Cambridge Silicon Radio has launched a new series of BlueCore2, its world-leading single-chip Bluetooth solution, for low-cost high-volume applications.
Unwill's voice box, model B090S1, is due to go on sale for $59 in Europe and North America from Q3 2002.
The compact (62.5 x 92 x 25mm) Voice Box, made possible due to CSR's compact single-chip design, is compliant with v1.1 of the Bluetooth specification and takes its power from the car's cigarette lighter.
No other connection is required to establish a wireless in-car network, and so no complicated installation is required.
The Voice Box is a Class 2 Bluetooth device, which means it is possible to connect with mobile phones within a 10m range - enough for the longest of stretched limousines.
Full-duplex telephony with acoustic echo cancellation, volume control and full Bluetooth handset profile all mean that the Voice Box offers a high-quality wireless connection to the mobile phone.
An automatic setting on the Voice Box allows calls to be answered and immediately put through to handsfree; a mute button also allows privacy without having to search frantically for the mobile phone.
Paul Yu, Deputy Program Manager, Uniwill, commented, "Uniwill has chosen CSR's BlueCore for a wide range of Bluetooth USB dongle and modules.
BlueCore has proven to be the ideal solution to meet Uniwill's requirements for the lowest cost and smallest footprint Bluetooth chip".
Yu continued, "CSR was again the natural choice for our Bluetooth Voice Box since the single-chip BlueCore also has full support for voice and hands-free Bluetooth profiles to ensure easy connection with other Bluetooth devices".
Gordon Petrie, Vice President of Sales, Europe and Far East for CSR, added, "We are very happy that Uniwill has selected CSR to bring the power of Bluetooth connectivity to their innovative Voice Box".
Petrie continued, "CSR expects in-car wireless, hands-free applications to be a huge area of growth for Bluetooth over the next few years".
