High-resolution display gives early warning
A new ultra-high-performance TFT-LCD display has been developed for the AWACS aircraft as a joint venture between military supplier Joyce-Loebl and displays manufacturer Calibre (UK)
This new company has purchased the assets, intellectual property rights and ongoing business operations of Langley, UK based IEC International, a world-renowned premium in-flight entertainment equipment manufacturer. Established over 14-years ago, Calibre is highly respected worldwide as a specialist manufacturer of flat panel displays, display electronics, image processing electronics and I2Cbus comms systems.
CEO Tim Brooksbank states: "Calibre's particular emphasis is on high performance video (TV) and multimedia-capable flat panel displays.
When the opportunity arose to diversify into the in-flight entertainment industry we rapidly decided this fitted Calibre's product and market profile perfectly".
The new company will be run by CEO Tim Brooksbank representing Calibre's 64% ownership together with three ex-IEC International senior managers - Chris Nicholls, Peter Smith and Hari Bala - who between them own a 36% share in the new venture.

This acquisition also sees a restructuring of senior management at Calibre with Pauline Jarrett being promoted to Managing Director and Tim Brooksbank moving to the position of Group Chief Executive Officer.
