Quickturn has successfully integrated its MercuryPlus design verification system within Siroyan's design environment, enabling Siroyan to tape out its test chip ahead of schedule

Cadence subsidiary Quickturn has successfully integrated its MercuryPlus design verification system within Siroyan's design environment, enabling Siroyan to tape out its test chip ahead of schedule. Siroyan selected MercuryPlus in March of this year to form an integral part of the design tool flow for its new OneDSP architecture.

Siroyan uses a Quickturn MercuryPlus emulation system to verify the OneDSP architecture, which unites scalable, high-performance DSP with RISC functionality and memory management elements in a single core.

The OneDSP architecture is fully scalable, enabling customers to deploy up to 32 processing clusters to deliver the performance needed for their particular application.

Siroyan has built a test chip, designated SRU322, which is being manufactured through UMC's 0.15um process Silicon Shuttle programme.

The SRU322 is a two-cluster implementation integrating a number of high-performance system peripherals.

Quickturn emulation models will be made available to customers using OneDSP in their SoC designs.

By developing an integrated emulation solution, Quickturn will enable Siroyan customers to gain early access to the OneDSP IP for evaluation and early development purposes.

"The Quickturn MercuryPlus emulation system enabled Siroyan to reduce design time by providing rapid system emulation of the whole test chip, modeling the interactions between design blocks, and running over 10,000 million cycles", said Adrian Wise, chief technical officer, Siroyan.

"Delivering this level of rigorous testing within such tight deadlines and taping out ahead of schedule would have not been possible without MercuryPlus".

Wise continued, "MercuryPlus from Quickturn was well matched to our stringent requirements in developing such a revolutionary new architecture.

Their ability to truly understand our emulation needs and work closely with us gave us the confidence that the partnership would be productive".

"Siroyan's vision of providing its processor technology with verification models clearly exhibits that it understands what the market needs as more design teams begin using third party processor cores", said Gary Wilkins, vice president Europe for Quickturn.

"Our close relationship with Siroyan will not only deliver critical verification results for them but our joint customers as well".
