Serial ATA interface rides in on PMC
The PMCSATA is a Serial ATA (SATA) disk drive interface featuring conduction cooling
This low cost PMC module uses the SiI3112A PCI to Serial ATA controller and provides two Serial ATA channels with data transfer rates of 150Mbyte/s over a 1m cable length. Designed to interface to the latest storage devices the PMCSATA provides a convenient connection method using compact round cables rather than the more cumbersome ribbon cables required by IDE and SCSI devices.

The module conforms to the "Serial ATA high speed serialised AT attachment Specification Revision 1.0".
The PCI interface supports 33 and 66MHz operation with 32bit data.
It has independent 256byte FIFOs for each channel.
The PMCSATA is available with standard SATA connectors for use with the standard widely available SATA cables or can be supplied with the latching SATA connectors more suitable for an industrial environment.
The front panel contains the two SATA connectors and an LED to indicate Serial ATA activity.
The PMCSATA will work with standard PCI IDE controller drivers or can be used with device specific drivers for Windows 98, Me, NT4, 2000, XP, Netware and Linux.
An onboard Flash device holds the BIOS for X86 applications and an optional serial EEPROM can be fitted for non-X86 applications where required.
