This novel solution can be delivered using today's technology to give mobile subscribers access to web-type interactive information and is therefore particularly suited to markets with low Internet penetration and high messaging and subscriber growth.
While messaging is the major success of GSM technology and in some regions accounts for 45% of revenues, operators and subscribers alike have cast envious eyes at content-centric services like 'i-mode' in Japan.
With the Mobile WriteUp solution, GSM network operators can provide a 'parallel web' experience with content providers taking centre stage and mobile subscribers creating and accessing Mobile WriteUp sites through a simple change of SIM card.
Subscribers with the Mobile WriteUp functionality will be able to access rich content, create their own sites, directories and links, as well as buy or sell products and services.
The Mobile WriteUp application functionality is delivered courtesy of software residing on the SIM card.

Bluefish has taken the standard SmartTrust WIB (Wireless Internet Browser) and extended its functionality with a series of plug-ins.
Subscribers will be able to post content to a server as well as select from history and view from a list of favourites.
The Mobile WriteUp browser will provide a simple user experience to anyone with a second-generation mobile phone currently estimated to be up to 75% of all GSM subscribers in the world today.
For network operators, Mobile WriteUp is the ideal solution that uses existing messaging technology to allow unlimited and affordable content delivery to their subscribers whilst being totally compatible with existing network infrastructure and handset technology.
The end result is satisfied customers and increased revenue per subscriber.
"This collaboration with VIPMobile is a perfect fit for Bluefish and exemplifies the different approach that we are taking to the market as compared to the traditional SIM vendors.
By working closely with a number of technology partners, Bluefish is able to deliver compelling SIM solutions that allow network operators to leverage their existing network technology to deliver a range of value-added services to their subscribers today", said Mark Castle, Business Development Director at Bluefish.
"We are excited about working with Bluefish to accelerate the development and marketing of Mobile WriteUp.
Mobile WriteUp, which offers network operators a low-cost, high-margin value-added service, will be in field trials in Q1 2002 with carrier customers in Southeast Asia.
Our partnership with Bluefish ensures that we give our customers high quality customer service and expertise in SIM card solutions and applications as well as in software development and content management", said Wendy Pizarro, Head of Marketing at VIPMobile.
