Optical fibre camera cables are ready for use
A complete line of hybrid optical fibre camera cables is available to the SMPTE 311M specification incorporating SMPTE 304M connectors from Lemo and other manufacturers
The cost effective Static UMDs can display an internally stored message and tally with three brightness levels.
Both, characters and brightness level can be set by two small pushbuttons located in the front panel.
A GPI input at the rear activates the required tally indication.
Units are available with single or dual message window.
The Dynamic versions change the message displayed either by following the routing switcher or by GPI input, directly to each UMD.

Advances in facility cables and connectors
Technology rolls on, but broadcast cables and connector paths will always be designed to combat 'electrical noise' from EMI, RFI and capacitance variation as this article indicates
Up to eight messages can be stored, either on the UMD itself or in Crosspoint's Controller Hub-DSP, which can allocate tables with all the names needed.
Using two small pushbuttons on the front of the unit users can enter names, set two independent brightness levels (for normal operation and for tallies) and assign the device number for networked units.
A rear circuit closing GPI/GPO connector triggers independently the display of the eight messages stored on the UMD internal memory and the red or green tally lights, These models are available with a single, dual or triple message window.
A single-message half-rack-width model is also available.
With the dynamic, tricolour dual-message models tally information changes the message colour from green to yellow and/or to red.
Crosspoint UMDs have the great benefit of stand-alone internal power supply for 220V AC and fit in 1U.
The Slim series, designed specially for OB vans, enables the display unit (2cm deep) to sit in front of the monitor.
A tilt down mechanism allows access to the monitor front knobs.
Attachments are available for most TV monitors in the market.
This design saves 1U per display, and the rear unit can be installed up to 2m distance at the back of the rack.
With the 1U Controller Hub-DSP up to 255 dynamic UMDs can be networked via RS485.
A small keyboard connected to the Hub-DSP allows the operator to configure the entire UMD's panel by just looking at the UMD's prompts.
A 64 tally input option with up to 64 closed contacts allows interconnection direct to a mixer.
These tally commands are sent through the RS485 network to the UMDs and can be fully mapped (any tally input to any UMD).
To send tally indication to cameras as well, Crosspoint offer a 32 tally output option, this generates 32 relay-closing circuits, which are also fully mapped (any tally in to any tally out).
Adding the PS-MTX option to the hub, an RS232/422 port, plus the software for the specific model of the switcher - a fully dynamic mode of operation can be created so that the names on UMDs alter to follow the crosspoint activity of the router.
