Variable capacitance diodes
boast space savings
The latest ultraminiature, surface-mount, variable capacitance diodes from Toshiba are now available from BFi Optilas
They are designed to save space in radio and telecommunication equipment and other ultra high-frequency designs. Targeted at UHF VCO applications, the JDV2S18S and JDV2S18FS provide reliable operation at frequencies up to 3GHz. The JDV2S18S is supplied in Toshiba's ultraminiature 2-pin sESC package and has dimensions of 1.4 x 0.6 x 0.55mm, whereas the JDV2S18FS is in a 2-pin fSC packaging measuring 1.0 x 0.6 x 0.5mm, and is suitable for applications where further space savings are required.

Both of the new diodes are rated for a maximum reverse voltage (VR) of 10V.
Typical diode capacitance is 16pF at a VR of 1V, and 7.2pF when VR is 4V.
