Transceiver empowers tunable transponder
Device provides fully integrated serialisation/deserialisation (serdes) capabilities for low-power intermediate- and long-reach 10Gbit/s applications.
Optium Corporation is using AMCC's S19252 transceiver for its new small form factor (SFF) multi-source agreement (MSA) tunable transponder.
The AMCC S19252 is a Sonet/SDH/10GbE and 10G FC EDC-based transceiver with a 10Gbit/s clock output.
The S19252 device provides fully integrated serialisation/deserialisation (serdes) capabilities for low power intermediate and long reach 10Gbit/s applications.
The device performs all necessary parallel-to-serial and serial-to-parallel functions in conformance with Sonet/SDH and 10GbE transmission standards.
The S19252 is compliant with the 300-pin MSA standard for 10G transponders, the OIF SFI4 Phase 1 Parallel Electrical Interface standard, IEEE Draft P802.3ae, and the XFP MSA standard.
The S19252 provides a number of built in test features such as numerous pattern generators, checkers, and bit error rate counters that allow customers to provide BERT like functionality.

Optium's SFF tunable transponder provides enhanced network flexibility by enabling the upgrade of single channel applications often used in metro networks, while enabling customers that currently use large form factor tunable devices to achieve higher port density on their line cards without sacrificing performance.
Optium's SFF tunable transponder features full C-and L-band tunability and is available in both +/-800 and 1600ps/nm configurations.
The product can operate at up to 11.35Gbit/s and has a minimum extinction ratio of 12dB and low power dissipation.
