Power Systems International and its German business partner Transtechnik have shared success in the initiation of the 'first beam' switch-on of the Large Hadron Collider Project.

CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear Research) has presented the company with the Golden Large Hadron Collider Award in recognition of its advanced power conversion switching technology contribution used in developing the high-precision power systems for controlling the accelerator beam magnets.

The first beam in the Large Hadron Collider at CERN was successfully steered around the full 27km of the world's most powerful particle accelerator on 10 September.

The Power Systems International business partnership with Transtechnik is now in its 39th year and they have recently secured together a major project to supply 44 power conversion systems for another particle accelerator project in the UK.
