AVX has developed the controlled-capacitance multilayer varistor (MLV) series designed for mixed signal environments in automotive applications such as multiplex bus systems and bus drivers.

The controlled-capacitance MLV delivers targeted signal filtering across a 20db range.

It also reduces emissions from high-speed Asics and prevents conduction of induced E-fields into the IC and clamps transient voltages.

In addition, the controlled-capacitance MLV provides bi-directional protection, good energy/current handling capability, and low leakage at a rated voltage of 10uA.

The MLV provides tight capacitance and tolerance control as well as lower leakage current at rated voltages.

AVX plans to further expand the Transguard range to include controlled-capacitance MLV E6 capacitance range versions.

The controlled-capacitance MLV series is suitable for multiplex bus systems, bus drivers and data-over-power-line filtering applications.
