Atmel extends franchise
to UK and Ireland
Atmel Corp and Arrow Electronics have concluded a franchise distribution agreement that has extended the relationship between the two companies into the UK and Ireland
The deal builds on the success of the existing distribution agreements that Arrow has with Atmel in the USA, the Nordic region and central Europe, and represents a key element in Arrow's strategy to provide truly global coverage for the Atmel franchise. Under the terms of the UK agreement Arrow is stocking and supporting a wide range of Atmel semiconductor solutions including logic, memory, PLDs, microcontrollers including Atmel's 'classic' range, and devices for wireless applications.

Chris McAneny, Marketing Director for Arrow Northern Europe, comments: "The agreement with Atmel in the UK and Ireland is of strategic importance for Arrow, and builds on the success of our existing relationship in other parts of the world.
In addition to ensuring rapid access to Atmel devices for development and production, the agreement gives Atmel customers in the UK and Ireland access to Arrow's in-house technical and engineering resources".
Russell Byrne, Atmel's Northern European Distribution Manager, adds: "We have been very impressed with Arrow's performance in the USA, central Europe and the Nordic region, and extending the relationship into the UK is the logical next step.
We are confident that the combination of Arrow's logistics and technical support capabilities will play an important role in significantly growing the Atmel customer base in the UK and the Republic of Ireland".
