Sharp Microelectronics has signed a distribution agreement with Arrow Electronics UK as part of a strategic rollout that will also see Arrow become a franchised distributor across Europe

The new agreement covers the UK and Ireland, and follows successful relationships between the two companies in the USA and the Nordic regions. Under the terms of the agreement Arrow will stock and provide technical design-in support for the complete Sharp Microelectronics product range. This range includes LCD displays, memory devices, microcontrollers, voltage regulators, RF components, CCDs and CMOS image sensors, and optoelectronic components such as LEDs and photocouplers.

Rick Fullarton, the Sharp Microelectronics distribution manager for the UK and Ireland, comments: "We have been very impressed by the performance of Arrow in the Nordic region and we now want to extend that successful relationship throughout the rest of Europe.

The agreement with Arrow Electronics UK is a key part of this strategy and will ensure that our growing customer base in the UK and Ireland has rapid access to the components and the technical support that they need to develop and manufacture their products".

Chris McAneny marketing director at Arrow Northern Europe, adds: "Sharp Microelectronics offers a broad mix of products that range from commodity items to parts that require design-in support.

Arrow's combination of logistics and in-house technical capabilities - including significant investment in FAEs - ensures that we can effectively address the needs of OEMs and CEMs choosing Sharp solutions no matter where they are in the UK and Ireland".
