Microchip Technology has extended its e-commerce site, buy.Microchip, to allow customers in 15 different European countries to place credit-card orders for nearly all of Microchip's devices and development tools. This online catalogue, which was first launched in September 2003 for customers in the USA, includes the full scope of Microchip's devices - including the high-performance PIC microcontrollers, stand-alone analogue and interface products, serial EEPROMs, development tools and many other solutions. Currently, Microchip can accept online orders from customers in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the UK, with plans to further expand this service.
One key feature of buy.Microchip is the parametric search tool, or "product tree", which allows online shoppers to quickly view, filter and sort through product choices via comparison charts.
Customers can also define the specific parameters for the application they're designing, and the parametric search tool will create a list of Microchip's products that meet their required specifications.
In addition, the site provides "live inventory" status for the availability of each product, along with the lead-time for delivery.
Development tool listings add descriptions and photos.
