MCUs take low-power radio links onboard
Microchip now has a complete system solution for short-range unidirectional RF communications
Consisting of three microcontrollers with integrated transmitters and two receivers, the new devices provide solutions supporting frequency bands from 260 to 930MHz. By combining the rfPIC12F675 microcontroller/transmitters with either the rfRXD0420 receiver or rfRXD0920 receiver, users can create a wireless unidirectional communication link for embedded control applications.

LDO cuts power for long-term standby
Power-saving low-dropout regulator is ideal for applications requiring long battery runtimes and high tolerance for input-voltage variations
The receivers can also be combined with Microchip's existing rfPIC devices and Keeloq encoders for remote sensing and control designs.
The rfRXD0420 (300-450MHz) and rfRXD0920 (850-930MHz) single-conversion super-heterodyne UHF RF receivers offer a maximum datarate of 80Kbit/s, a standby supply current of 100nA and operate over a voltage range of 2.5 to 5.5V.
Active supply currents are 6.5 to 8.2mA for the rfRXD0420 and 7.5 to 9.2mA for the rfRXD0920.
The microcontrollers are 20-pin PICmicro devices featuring an integrated UHF RF transmitter with an output power of 6dBm.
The rfPIC12F675K (260-350MHz), rfPIC12F675F (390-450MHz) and rfPIC12F675H (850-930MHz) have a maximum datarate of 40Kbit/s, a standby supply current of only 100nA and an operating voltage range of 2.0 to 5.5V.
The microcontrollers feature 1.8Kbyte of Flash program memory, 64byte RAM and 128byte EEPROM.
Additional features include an analogue comparator and four channels of 10bit A/D.
