Free software builds microcontroller applications
Application Maestro is a powerful new software tool for building PICmicro microcontroller applications
Available for free from Microchip's website, the Application Maestro software manages an extensive library of ready-to-configure modules written specifically for Microchip's PIC16 and PIC18 microcontrollers. All the designer needs to do is supply the appropriate design parameters and let the Application Maestro generate the code module.

Six new members of the 8bit PIC microcontroller family integrate more memory and liquid-crystal display modules
This can then be added to the designer's own code for the finished product.
The Application Maestro shortens design cycles and reduces costs by enhancing software reusability and allowing the designer to focus more on a design application and spend less time on the details of the PICmicro microcontroller peripheral set.
Initially, Application Maestro modules will include a UART and modules supporting the SPI and I2C protocols for both microcontroller families, an analogue-to-digital convertor for the PIC18 family, a CAN bootloader for the PIC18FXX8 microcontroller, a CAN driver for the PIC18CXX8 and PIC18FXX8 microcontrollers, and an RTC for the PIC16 family.
