Digital control for the analogue world
Microchip's first programmable gain amplifier includes an amplifier, multiplexer and gain control
The MCP6S2X gain amplifier family gives digital control over the amplifier function and design. The devices are programmed over the SPI bus providing control of the gain and input channel selection, channel providing analogue input expansion for the microcontroller. This reduces the microcontroller cost by reducing the number of I/O pins needed.

A 2MHz, 500mA switching regulator provides adjustable and fixed output voltages with an operating efficiency of up to 90%
In addition, the PGA removes the need for feedback and input resistors, which further decreases cost and reduces board space.
Available with one-, two-, six- and eight-channel inputs this product has eight gain steps with an amplifier bandwidth of 2 to 12MHz.
Multiple channels for the same signal path enable system self-calibration of the analogue signal path, enhancing accuracy over time and temperature.
The broad bandwidth is achieved for a lower supply current that reduces power supply demands.
The device has a supply voltage range of 2.5 to 5.5V and operates over -40 to +125C.
Additionally, it offers low noise of 10nV/rtHz and low offset voltage 150uV, TDH+N 0.0012 %, 200ns settling time and gain steps of 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 16 and 32V/V.
