Atom-based boards cut power for x86 applications
PC/104 single board computer and COM-Express module harness the low power capabilities of the Intel Atom next generation chipset.
Eurotech has been working closely with Intel Corporation, and will soon be launching the Isis and Proteus products based on the Low Power Intel Architecture.
The Isis is a PC/104 single board computer and Proteus is available as a stand-alone or COM-Express module.
Both harness the low power capabilities of the Intel Atom next generation chipset but also offer x86 compatibility in a fanless design.
Both the Isis and the Proteus offer the level of functionality and performance you would traditionally expect from a high performance x86 board, but at reduced power consumption of less than 5W.
A key feature of the Isis and the Proteus is their full compatibility with a wide range of operating systems that include Windows Vista, Windows CE 6.0, Windows XP and Linux.
Having all this performance in such a small package is a truly unique offering that make them ideally suitable for applications such as infotainment, interactive kiosks, access control, HMI, medical and industrial control.
Using Intel's high-k 45nm technology the Intel Atom processor Z5XX series deliver the benefits of Intel architecture for small form factor boards with robust performance-per-watt in an ultra-small package.
Each processor is matched with an Intel System Controller Hub (SCH) US15W which is a highly integrated device with a graphics memory controller hub and I/O controller hub combined into one small 22 x 22mm package.
The Isis and Proteus will be available later in 2008.
