The W1 connector is a coaxial interface system that produces excellent RF performance up to 110GHz, making it well suited for high frequency applications ranging from components to systems and instrumentation. Based on the 1.00 mm coaxial connector front side interface as specified by IEEE287, the design of the W1 connector family is intended for high-end performance. No other connector series matches the performance and reliability of the W1 connectors at such a high frequency.
The complete connector offering includes both male and female sparkplug connectors, as well as a female flange mount connector.
The centre conductor of the sparkplug connectors is supported by Anritsu's proprietary low loss, high temperature plastic bead on one end and a Teflon bead on the other to provide exceptional concentricity to the pin on the back side.
The flange mount connector's centre conductor is supported by a PPO bead on the front end and by a Teflon bead on the back end.
Both the sparkplug and the female flange mount connectors are designed so that the centre conductor extends outside the connector, allowing a direct pin overlap connection to the microwave circuit.
The connectors have 50ohm impedance, typical return loss of -16dB to 110GHz, typical insertion loss of 0.7dB on the sparkplug connectors and 0.6dB on the flange mount connector, and offer superior reliability.
Anritsu has also developed W1 in-series adapters for use with the W1 connector family.
Available in M-M, M-F, or F-F configurations, the precision adapters have an air dielectric interface and a centre conductor that is supported by a PPO bead.
The maximum return loss is -16dB and the maximum insertion loss is 0.5dB.
In addition, the W1 connector family includes male and female 1mm broadband terminations with -16dB return loss (1.33 VSWR) for the male and -14dB return loss (1.5 VSWR) for the female.
