Arden Photonics has been chosen by Megger to distribute its XC-850 multimode OTDR. The XC-850 is a new concept in the evolution of optical time-domain reflectometers (OTDRs). Specifically designed to make checking and fault-finding quick and easy on fibre-optic data networks, the new XC850 crosschecking reflectometer from Megger provides state-of-the-art performance with simplicity of use at a very competitive price.

Megger's XC-850 crosschecking reflectometer operates at 850nm, and can be used on fibre systems up to 2km in length, with losses of up to 13dB.

The distance resolution is 0.5m, and the event dead zone (-40dB reflection) is less than 1m.

David Robinson of Arden Photonics says: "We are very happy to be working with Megger, who have such a well-established name in electrical test and measurement industry, and to help them to serve the growing market in high performance LANs.

This OTDR perfectly complements our existing multimode products, the MPX-1 mode profiler for measuring encircled flux and CPR, and the LanSim local area network simulator".
