Video filters simplify signal conditioning
A new family of video filters is designed to ease the analogue video signal conditioning challenges in advanced consumer video applications, such as HDTV, personal video players and DVD recorders
Analog Devices has unveiled a family of video filters designed to ease the analogue video signal conditioning challenges in advanced consumer video applications, such as HDTV, personal video players and DVD recorders. Able to condition HD (high definition) as well as SD (standard definition) video signals, the video filter solution replaces dozens of passive components, amplifiers, and multiplexers with a single chip.

'With the introduction of the ADA441x family, Analog Devices has developed a unique circuit architecture that enables tight control of specifications, which not only provides superior video signals, but saves space, power and design time over alternative methods', said Bob Esdale, Product Line Director, High Speed Linear Products, Analog Devices.
The ADA441x family includes the ADA4410-6, ADA4411-3, and the ADA4412-3, which include adjustable six-pole filters and buffers.
The ADA4410-6 is the most highly integrated of the family with six channels to process any video standard: HD, SD, S-video or composite.
It also includes 2:1 multiplexers on each input and adjustable offset and selectable gain.
The ADA4411-3 is a three-channel version of the ADA4410-6.
The ADA4412-3 is also a three-channel device with adjustable gain and offset.
Each device features single and dual supply operation, can be AC or DC coupled on the input or output, and has rail-to-rail outputs to provide greater design flexibility.
The ADA4410-6 is available in full production quantities now in a 5 x 5mm, 32-lead chip scale package (CSP) and is priced at $1.80 in 100,000-piece quantities.
The ADA4411-3 and ADA4412-3 are available in a small outline package (QSOP) and are available in sample quantities now.
Both will be available in full production quantities in the summer of 2005.
The 24-lead ADA4411-3 is available in 100,000 piece quantities for $1.49 and the 20-lead ADA4412-3 is available in the same quantities for $1.29.
