Dual synthesisers for
up- and down-conversion
The ADF421xL family of dual frequency synthesisers can be used to implement local oscillators in both the RF and IF up- and down-conversion sections of wireless receivers and transmitters
The ADF421xL family of dual frequency synthesisers can be used to implement state-of-the-art local oscillators in both the RF and IF up- and down-conversion sections of wireless receivers and transmitters. The ADF421xL consists of a low-noise digital phase frequency detector (PFD), precision charge pump, programmable reference divider, programmable A and B counters and a dual-modulus prescaler (P/P+1).

A complete phase-locked loop (PLL) can be implemented by combining the ADF421xL with a VCO and loop filter.
The ADF421xL operates on a single 2.6 to 3.3V power supply with 1.8V logic compatibility.
A separate Vp allows for extended tuning range up to 5.5V.
Additional features include selectable dual modulus prescaler values and programmable charge pump currents.
Developed for the wireless market, applications include wireless base station transceivers, wireless LAN, mobile handsets and PDAs, broadband wireless access, communication test equipment, and CATV Equipment.
The ADF4217L and ADF4218L are low phase-noise, low-current improvements on the previously released ADF4217 and ADF4218, which are package and pin compatible to the LMX2331L and LMX2330L from National Semiconductor.
The ADF4219L is a low phase-noise upgrade and is package and pin compatible to the LMX2370 from National Semiconductor.
The ADF4217L, ADF4218L and ADF4219L are available now in TSSOP and chip scale packages.
The ADF4217L costs $2.28 per unit in 1000 piece quantities.
The ADF4218 and ADF4219L cost $3.49 per unit in 1000 piece quantities.
