Bluetooth transceiver passes the test

Alcatel can now boast a fully compliant Bluetooth chipset, following the qualification of its MTC-60150 Bluetooth radio transceiver.

The Alcatel radio transceiver is a fully integrated single CMOS chip supporting Power Class 2 with power control.

It requires no additional external RF components and, as such, simplifies the implementation of Bluetooth in a wide range of products, from GSM handsets to PDAs and laptops, by minimising the need for RF expertise at the customer side.

The integration on-chip of the VCO, with self-calibration mode, allows ease-of-use in a volume production environment.

The MTC-60150 can be interfaced to the Alcatel Bluetooth baseband or to any other digital baseband over a BlueRF link.

The MTC-60150 and Alcatel's qualified baseband solution, the MTC-60180, are available on an evaluation kit, including the evaluation board, all necessary evaluation software, full documentation as well as a headphone for audio testing.

This evaluation kit provides a complete pretested and qualified solution to customers and reduces the time to market for all new applications.

The qualification of the MTC-60150 was performed by 7 Layers, a Bluetooth qualification test facility in Germany.

The qualification process demonstrated that Alcatel's test data comply with the requirements defined by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group and the product has been added to the Bluetooth qualified products list on the Bluetooth Qualification Programme website http://qualweb.bluetooth.org.
