Alcatel appoints axelec in Japan
Alcatel and axelec today announced they have signed an agreement for the distribution of Alcatel's microelectronic components in Japan.

axelec Corp is a joint venture of Paltek and Marubun, two leading electronics and electronic components distributors in Japan, offering value-added total solutions ranging from hardware to software in the edge and access network markets.
axelec will promote Alcatel's portfolio of system-on-chip solutions.
Products to be offered by axelec to its Japanese customers include Alcatel's DynaMiTe ADSL chipsets - leading the worldwide ADSL chipset market with more than 20 million chipsets sold - as well as Alcatel's recently announced V1.1 qualified Bluetooth solution.
axelec will also sell Alcatel's battery management chip product line which is due in the second quarter of this year.

Mr Sakurai, president and CEO of axelec, says: "Alcatel's leadership in ADSL chipsets and strength in home, automotive, and personal network technologies will drive axelec's growth as these technologies increasingly dominate the Japanese networking market.
Alcatel's products will also offer many opportunities for design and manufacture of module, board, or system-level products to meet our customers' requests.
Through this new relationship, axelec corporation's strength in customer-oriented, wide-ranging solutions is expected to result in 5 billion Yen sales in 3 years".
