Hot-pluggable transceiver for Fibre Channel
Agilent Technologies has announced volume availability of its 2Gbit/s small-form-pluggable (SFP) fibre-optic transceiver for Fibre Channel storage area networks (SANs).
The transceiver can effectively operate "nose to nose", with two transceivers practically touching, making it ideal for secure data transfer applications by preventing the interception of the infra-red signal.
The transceiver can also operate at extended distances of up to 50cm, exceeding the Infrared Data Association's (IrDA's) low-power link specification of 20 to 30cm.
"Agilent's new infra-red transceiver delivers all the features OEMs require for their next-generation handheld product designs", said Michael Huether, Director of Marketing Europe, Middle East, Africa, Semiconductor Products Group.
"In addition, Agilent has a proven track record in high-volume delivery, which is a critical requirement for our customers".
The Agilent HSDL-3203 meets the IrDA version 1.4 specification for low-power serial infra-red mode at 9.6 to 115.2Kbit/s datarates.
Its shutdown current is typically a minuscule 10nA, compared with the 100nA or more of competing products, to help extend battery life.
It is supplied in Agilent's new small-profile package with dimensions of only 1.95 x 8.0 x 3.1mm.
It provides excellent performance within the supply voltage range of 2.7 to 3.6V, and over a temperature range of -20 to +70C.
Other features include an integrated EMI shield and IEC825 Class 1 eye safety rating.
The Agilent HSDL-3203 is currently available through Agilent's sales offices worldwide as well as through Agilent's distribution partners. Request a free brochure from Avago Technologies ...
