Acal Technology is a new company that merges the businesses ofGothic Crellon and Amega Group - both existing companies withinthe Acal Group. The result is a stocking distributor andrepresentative, with a particular high focus on design andsupport. Acal Technology will be a highly focused specialistcomponent and board level supply organisation marketing throughfour autonomous sales and marketing divisions: AcalSemiconductors, Gothic Components, Crellon Microsystems andAdvanced Crystal Technology.
Within the company, a majorinitiative is the formation of Acal Semiconductors which willfocus purely on the design-in and specialist supply ofsemiconductors and become a centralised resource centre for thepurchasing of certain franchises for all of the Acal Group.Gothic Components will now solely concentrate on passive andelectromechanical distribution.
There is no change to the othertwo divisions, Crellon Microsystems, the board and system leveldistributor and integrator and Advanced Crystal Technology, theown label and third party frequency control supplier, who willcontinue trading as before.
Based in Wokingham, Acal Technologyis a wholly owned subsidiary of Acal PLC and will capitalise onthe market strengths that Acal has, to build and strengthenexisting supplier and customer relationships.

Steve Sydes, who was Managing Director ofGothic Crellon, will continue as the Managing Director of AcalTechnology.
Commenting on the new formation he said: 'GothicCrellon has been trading for over 30 years, and to push aheadwith our growth plans it was necessary to make this strategicdecision which will enhance the business and allow us theopportunity to expand in the areas where we see growth.
Thisformation will help us to clearly define who we are to ourcustomers and suppliers and will also allow us to build on thestrength of the Acal Group brand'.
Key market areas for AcalTechnology will be automotive/transport, industrial,telecomms/datacomms, defence/aeorospace, broadcast, media, CEM(contract electronic manufacturers) and EMS (electronicmanufacturing services).
