CTS electronics manufacturing Solutions is to use Aegis NPI, MES, Analytical and CAMX data acquisition systems to meet the stringent traceability requirements of the medical device manufacturing industry. With this key technology selection, CTS will be able to offer customers a scope and depth of product and manufacturing information that will satisfy the demanding traceability and data visibility requirements of their customers efficiently. CTS has a large facility in Scotland which has been using Aegis CircuitCAM for machine programming for 5 years; other CTS sites around the world also use Aegis for engineering and shop floor solutions.
A few years ago traceability might have been considered a WIP history report of a unit and 'time-based' traceability of the component lots believed to be used on that unit.
Today, the regulatory requirements for traceability, as well as the internal requirements of world-class OEMs, are far more comprehensive and detailed.
Concepts such as 'traceability in SMT placement' or 'lots believed to be on the unit' or 'time-based traceability' no longer overcome the traceability challenge.
Precise traceability of components and materials and traceability across the lines and out through test and inspection is the challenge today.
'With this selection, CTS Electronics Manufacturing Solutions has taken a proactive approach to the information visibility, regulatory and traceability demands of the markets and customers they serve', commented Jason Spera, Aegis CEO.
'CTS' application of Aegis systems into their company-wide lean initiative programme demonstrates they are not satisfied to simply meet customer requirements as they exist today, but to exceed them and do so more cost effectively'.
'Aegis is proud to be part of the CTS strategy to meet information challenges that come their way with the system they have selected today'.
