New crystals in high-reliability ceramic packages are now available from Advanced Crystal Technology (ACT) in standard frequencies from 12.00 to 33.00MHz and custom frequencies to 85MHz. The ACT531SMX-4 family features a small-outline four-contact surface-mountable package with a maximum height of only 1mm. The new family targets portable and other applications requiring high packing density.

These include paging systems, hand held instrumentation and next generation personal communicators.

The ACT531SMX-4 series is available in a selection of frequency tolerances to +/-10ppm, with frequency stability to +/-5ppm over the operating temperature range -10 to +60 C.

Low drive requirement of 100mW maximum further matches the portable applications for which the crystal is designed, while equivalent series resistance ranges from 80 to 50ohm.

Shunt capacitance is fixed at 7pF, while load capacitance ranges from 10 to 32pF.

Despite the small component dimensions, insulation resistance is kept high, at 500Mohm minimum.
