Nucleus PictBridge software allows developers to build PictBridge-compliant applications so that consumers can print photographs directly from a digital camera to a printer without using a PC

New from Accelerated Technology, Nucleus PictBridge software allows developers to build PictBridge-compliant applications so that consumers can print photographs directly from a digital camera to a printer without using a personal computer (PC). Rapid market penetration of digital cameras is driving consumers to demand an easier way to print images over the traditional way of downloading pictures to a PC and then to a printer.

The PictBridge standard, from the Camera and Imaging Products Association (CIPA), provides technology that allows direct print capabilities from a digital camera to a printer regardless of device manufacturer.

The Nucleus PictBridge software is designed so that developers can quickly and easily develop PictBridge-compliant digital cameras and printers that can directly be connected to each other via a universal serial bus (USB) cable.

'PictBridge is a new standard providing consumers with greater option, control and convenience for sharing their photography than ever before', said Glen Johnson, Product Marketing Manager, Accelerated Technology, a Mentor Graphics division.

'Together with our Nucleus PictBridge software, embedded developers are now helping facilitate the next level of photo printing and sharing'.

The first release of the Nucleus PictBridge software has been integrated with the Nucleus USB stack and the Nucleus USB Still Image class driver for direct printing between printer and digital camera via USB.

The Nucleus PictBridge host enables a PictBridge-compliant printer and the Nucleus PictBridge function creates a PictBridge-compliant digital camera or mobile handset equipped with a camera.

The Nucleus embedded software is sold in source code format and without royalty fees.

Licences for the Nucleus PictBridge software begin at US $14,995.
