This version of the Edge UML Suite, which allows developers to generate 100% of a project's source code from Unified Modelling Language (UML), contains greatly improved compilation performance and added features. Using the Edge UML Suite, designs are captured and verified against requirements early in the software development process, allowing defects to be detected before designs are implemented.
C and C++ source code for a wide variety of targets is easily generated from the UML models via the push of a button.
'Mentor Graphics' Edge UML Suite is truly innovative', said Glen Johnson, Product Marketing Manager, Embedded Systems Division, Mentor Graphics.
'By bringing execution and translation to UML, our customers have seen increased productivity of up to 300% on projects ranging from printers and cellphones to implantable medical devices'.

The latest release of the Edge tool suite supports Eclipse 3.1, the latest version of the open framework
The Edge UML Suite is a set of tightly integrated plug-ins to the Eclipse platform that gives developers a single, consistent environment in which to build embedded applications.
This version of the tool suite now integrates the C++ model compiler, allowing developers to model in UML and quickly generate either C or C++ code.
In addition to support for CVS and subversion, this release provides configuration management and version control of UML models through an integration with Clearcase.
Configuration management and version control systems allow a user to check in and check out files from a central repository and share them with other users.
The Edge UML Suite strictly adheres to the Eclipse Team interface, which means that integration is supported for any third-party CM/VC tools that also conform to this interface.
In addition to the above features, this release doubles the translation speed of UML models into documented, stable and high-quality C or C++ code.
This improvement saves time during target integration and allows developers to be more productive.
Available now, licences for the Edge UML Suite begin at US $12,500.
