SNMP software eases
remote device management
Accelerated Technology has released version 2.3 of the Nucleus Simple Network Management Protocol software
Accelerated Technology has released version 2.3 of the Nucleus Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) software. The software allows networking developers to better monitor and manage remote network-attached devices by providing support for additional management information bases (MIBs) which describe the monitored device, in addition to improving performance and reducing code size.

Tuned for applications where memory and CPU resources are limited, the Nucleus SNMP product is portable, permitting users to easily develop a new port to a nonstandard environment.
It is also modular, enabling easy customisation and helping to reduce code size.
Additionally, the Nucleus SNMP product helps lower the software's overall memory usage, in some cases by as much as 30%.
The introduction of fast initialisation technology helps reduce what has typically been a long boot-up time caused by SNMPv3 encryption key generation.
This is especially important for low speed processors, for which it helps accelerate iterative debug sessions and produces a quicker power on cycle for the developers' final product.

With ever increasing security demands in the networking industry, the Nucleus SNMP software securely manages networks by providing capabilities including authentication, access control, privacy, message integrity and some aspects of replay protection.
The Nucleus SNMP product now also supports the Nucleus Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) software along with IPv4 making it the ideal management solution for next-generation products built on IPv6 technology.
'The Simple Network Management Protocol is one of the most widely deployed management solutions in use today', said Robert Day, Director of Marketing, Embedded Systems Division, Mentor Graphics.
'This revision of the Nucleus SNMP software strengthens our SNMP solution dramatically with improved performance, sise and many advanced features'.
'It will help reduce both time to market and cost to market for developers building SNMP-managed products'.
The Nucleus SNMP software, combined with the Nucleus Net protocol stack, provides embedded developers with a complete, royalty-free SNMP solution.
The Nucleus SNMP product is available in two packages: the Nucleus SNMP software with support for SNMPv1 and the Nucleus SNMPv3 software with support for all versions of SNMP i.e SNMPv1, v2c and v3.
Being an SNMP agent, the Nucleus SNMP software allows remote monitoring and management for any type of device and provides a solid foundation for different types of MIBs.
MIB-II and the SNMPv3 MIB are included by default.
Other Nucleus software products like the Nucleus 802.11 STA software, the Nucleus Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP) product and the Nucleus Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) software come with their respective MIB implementation that plugs into the Nucleus SNMP software, thus extending the management capabilities of those products.
The Nucleus embedded software is sold in source code format and without royalty fees.
Licences for the Nucleus SNMP software begin at US $9995 and licences for the Nucleus SNMPv3 software begin at US $19,995.
