Real-time kernel is easier to debug
Accelerated Technology has added a Running System Debug (RSD) enhancement supporting the ARM RealView Developer Suite to the Nucleus Plus real-time kernel
This enhancement will allow Nucleus software application developers using the RealView RVD debugger to halt individual Nucleus software tasks without needing to halt the central processing unit (CPU), ie the entire system and all tasks at once. Running System Debug enhancement allows development of real-time systems as the CPU continues to run, hence enabling analysis of the whole system, or the stopping of selected individual or groups of tasks.

Software embeds security into wireless Ethernet
Nucleus 802.11i software is now available to developers requiring IEEE802.11i, Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA-2) and WPA support in wireless Ethernet applications
This is extremely useful for interrupt-driven embedded applications including those that manage external events that cannot be stopped.
For example, in a connectivity application, the tasks handling the communications link can continue to run while the developer stops/single-steps/debugs the data-processing thread.
This may also speed development by avoiding the need to restart or resync the unit on the other side of the comms link.

'Accelerated Technology has always had strong support for the ARM processors'.
'The Nucleus RTOS, coupled with the ARM RealView Developer Suite Running System Debug features, enables developers to have ultimate control over their high-performance, multi-threaded applications', said Brian McAllister, Director of Marketing, Development Systems, ARM.
'Debugging real-time systems introduces complexity not found in other types of applications'.
'For systems such as a hard disk drive, halting the system to debug it could cause catastrophic damage to the hardware'.
'Nucleus software customers using ARM RealView tools will now have the support they need to debug their complex real-time systems', said Robert Day, Director of Marketing, Embedded Systems Division, Mentor Graphics.
The Nucleus embedded software is sold in source code format and without royalty fees.
Licences for the RSD enhancement for the Nucleus software begin at US $1295.
